Toyota Sienna Service Manual: How to proceed with troubleshooting

HINT: Troubleshoot in accordance with the procedures on the following pages.

1 VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

2 CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS CHECK AND SYMPTOM CHECK

3 INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LARGE-SCALE MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN)

  1. Use the intelligent tester to check for normal function of the multiplex communication system.
  1. (ECU unconnected, communication line malfunctioning) Without code outputs, proceed to A.
  2. (ECU unconnected, communication line malfunctioning) With code outputs, proceed to B.

4 DTC CHECK

  1. Check for a diagnostic trouble code.
  1. Without code outputs, proceed to A.
  2. With code outputs, proceed to B.

5 PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

  1. When problem is not listed on problem symptoms table, proceed to A.
  2. When problem is listed on problem symptoms table, proceed to B.

6 PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING ACCORDING TO MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM

  1. Data List / Active Test .
  2. Operation check .
  3. Inspection.
  4. Terminals of ECU

7 ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE

8 RESET POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM

9 CONFIRMATION TEST
